Live rock prices

I've paid $5 a pound, have seen up to $14 a pound, however, it seems that you get what you pay for with live rock - my $5 a pound rock, after being in my tank for a year may still not have as much life on it as the new $14 a pound rock, judging by the apearances of the rock.

According to my lfs here in the UK their is an import ban at the moment as CITES (i think thats what they are called) are'nt issuing any licences to able lfs's to import it in. By the way it is anywhere from £10 - £12 a kilo here so that means if a kilo is equal to 2.2lbs and a kilo is £10 which works out at $? i was never any good at maths.

Does it seem like good rock?

Do you know where it came from (Marshall Islands, Fiji, etc.)?

It's got a good bit of hitchhikers, I guess. So far I've seen a few copepods, 3 bristleworms, some weird white fuzz looking stuff growing on it(no clue what it is), and something with little yellow tenticles sticking out of a hole(clueless on that one too).

Hey - I've got fuzz on mine too. I inherited my tank so I thought it was due to neglect--like dust bunnies for live rock or something. I posted a question about it, but no one ever replied. Anyone got any ideas what it is?

Might be some kind of polyp. I had a button polyp hitchiker that did that..my trigger ate it though, I assume, b/c it hasn't shown itself in a couple of days. That trigger is smart...i put the piece of rock in and he would hide out behind another piece in a stalking type of way; swim real gently just keeping an eye on things waiting to see if anything came out. He's abandoned that, so I think the polyp is gone.
