I purchased 23 pounds of cured Fiji Rock from the LFS. It has been in my 20 gallon QT tank for 4 days now. I was planning to add a rock each week to my 36 gallon display tank. Can I start now? My QT parameters are the following:

Temp: 80 deg
pH = 8.4
S.G. = 1.023
Ammonia/Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 5-10 ppm

Main Tank parameters are:

Temp: 81 deg
pH = 8.3
S.G. = 1.0235
Ammonia/Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 20-40 ppm

Thanks Everyone:clap:

test your water from your qt tank and see if there is any amonia or nitrite production because rock usually has some die off from transportation/changing water parameters.

if there is am/nitrite just let it sit in there till you dont see anymore and be on the lookout for pests like bubble algae or flatworms

once there is no more nitrite then you can add it all at once to your main tank ( keep the parameters similar

First reading ammonia was at 0.5 ppm and nitrate read 10 ppm. Today, 4 days later, I read Ammonia/nitrite = 0 and Nitrate = 10-20ppm. Never read above 0 for nitrite, could this be because it was cured? Am I good to go?

+1. It sounds like the rock is ready but it should definitely smell just like the ocean and not any decay.
