Well it's not really live rock it's old pieces of lime stone from a borrow pit near me, I can tell it was under water once since the rocks are made form about 80% sea shells, Would this rock be suitable as base rock?

It would be a slight risk to add it.

Ive added rock to my tank that was from the side of the highway, and now it is covered in green and pink coralline algae.

Immediatly after adding limestone you will see some bubbles coming out, it is a reaction that releases co2.

All in all I would add it

i have a limestone quarry behind me and i have added peices of rock into my tanks before with no dramas. just be sure it is very clean, i mean very!

Thanks guys this relly help just one more question i noticed the limestone is slightly reddish brown in color from rust i was wonder if ironoxide well hurt the water chemistry of the tank?
