To everyone who's ordered rock from Tampa Bay, in particular the coral on rock: about how many pieces of rock per pound? About how large was each piece?

Of course each order is different, but if you can give me some examples I'd appreciate it. I'm planning on ordering some in the spring to add to my existing rock.

In two weeks I am driving to Tampa and I'll be checking out their LR while Im there, I'll try to take some pics and let you know all I can find out!

The rock is very dense. My first 100 lbs consisted of six pieces. My second 100 lbs was three huge boulders. You are more than welcome to request specific sizes or shapes, but it will take longer for your order to be filled if they have to wait for certain sizes.
My smallest rock was maybe 5 lbs, the largest maybe 40 lbs.
I did hack a bit off the largest one to make it easier to handle- but I needed rubble for my refugium anyway.

Thanx for the info!:) I think I'll be ordering smaller pieces as this is to "top of" the existing rocks in my tank. My tank's a 46 gallon bow front and has 50lbs. live rock in it already.

Yeah, it varies a lot. Just like Cearbhaill, I got smaller peices first, with some whoppers later. Made for a real challenge in a small tank. Definitely a good idea to tell them what you want.

Agree with above comments. If you want something specific, you'd better ask. I got a 40 gal package and was expecting a number of "normal" sized rocks. When I opened the two boxes each had a HUGE piece of rock that took up pretty much the whole box. So I got two great base pieces that take up most of my tank, and a few smaller ones to put on top and in between (bridge-like).

Richard said my 2nd shipment would be smaller, "top off" rock. Great stuff though. Lots of corals, an urchin, and who knows what else that I haven't found yet.
