So, i am shopping around right now, or trying to, for some LR but i am having troubl finding places to buy it around here. I live in Davis, CA (about 15 mins out of sacramento). I was wondering where some of you guys buy your LR? I only need about 30 lbs or so for my 30gal tank. Any help is appreciated. :hi:

www.sealifeflorida.com

Its $3.50 a pound + shipping.

It is awesome rock with lots of corraline and plenty of life on it.

I live in Sacramento and I haven't found anyplace to get rock with any life or color on it, and even then it is at least $6 a pound.

So i found one idea that some guy had done for his tank . . .

"I buy lava rock and large, pebbled rocks in bulk from places like Lowes or Home Depot. To clean the rocks, I bleach and boil them. Then using aquarium-safe silicone, I glue them all together in a way that creates caves, arches, or pillars. I let them dry and instantly! a new breeding territory!"

The only problem im having is the whole bleaching part. I thought it was a bad idea to use any kind of bleach on anything you will be ading to the tank?!

well if your willing to drive to san francisco Ive bought live rock from sixth ave aquarium. Its pretty good its 4.99 a lb if you purchase over 10lbs its 3.99 a lb . ITs about as cheap as your gonna find other than online but than you have to worry about shipping charges etc. I just actually bout around 30lbs there and it came out to like 130 something bucks and I chose the rocks myself.

Where exactly is that place located in frisco? My gf lives in berkely, so i might just tell her that im going over there to visit her, and just happen to see a pet store 30 miles away!!! Oh, i also have another question, if im running an UG filter, would i be able to have live rock, since it will kinda be placed on the substrate? I have a mechincal bio wheel filter, but it isnt working right now becuase im waiting for a part to come in for it.

THe store is off 19th street, on clement......u can google it "sixth avenue aquarium" and go to the link and get directions and real address. I wouldnt do the an undergravel filter. Thats why your getting the live rock right?
