I am posting this in the newbie section as I have not had a marine aquarium/reef setup for over 10 years so I feel like I am starting all over. Back in the day I use to use crushed coral. Now I am looking to setup a 20 gallon nano-reef and use livesand this time around.

My question is, who has the best live sand?

I have been looking at three candidates:
1. Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand
2. CaribSea Arag-Alive Bahama Oolite Sand
3. CaribSea Aragamax Sugar-Sized Sand (don't think this is live sand)

Any recommendations? Any other candidates I should consider?

I just want to make sure I do it right this time around.

Thanks...

"Live sand" only has a tid bit of bacteria in it and were not sure if any of that is still actually alive when we put it in the tank.

The best live sand comes from a healthy, established reef tank.

Save your money and just buy dry aragonite sand. The live rock you will purchase will quickly seed and turn the sand bed live.

I agree with schigara. Save your money and just buy dry aragonite sand. If you know someone with a tank that has been up and running for awhile get a cup of there sand. Also some LFS with give you a cup of theres if you ask.

Thanks for the information.....Any recommendations of good dry aragonite sand (white). The local pet stores around here do not carry marine fish or equipment so most of my purchases are done through mail order.
