Yay! I finally have something besides plants and driftwood in my tank! I bought 3 sm. kuhli loaches last night after my tank finally finished cycling.

Recently however, I have have and a noticable increase in free-swimming nematodes. I am going to guess that these aren't paracitic because there have not been any fish in the tank before. Likely they hiked in on a plant or something.

I have a lot of organic material in the tank (1 sm and 2 med/lg pieces of Malyasian driftwood) and various plants (1 anachris, some java moss, and several growing java ferns). I had 2 anachris, but one wasn't thriving so well, and sloughed off organic material like a fine dust as it died back. It has been removed, but with all this organic stuff, the nematodes have thrived. I'm doing frequent water changes (I did few during the fishless cycling process) and vacuuming the gravel as much as I can.

To my question (finally)--will the loaches eat any of these white-worms? Any other suggestions or comments will be appreciated.

IME, kuhli's will eat just about anything they can root out of the substrate. Most likely, if the worm are big enough for the loaches to eat, they will do so with gusto.

good, maybe they will earn thier liberation from the LFS.:D
