loaches vs cories as cleanup crew

I agree with fishorama. There are not many fish who PREFER large gravel, and larger gravel tends to collect dirt and debris. I would get a medium grade gravel, a fine grade gravel, or even sand. Both cories and kuhlis love sand, and dirt accumulates on top rather than inside of it.
If you do change your substrate, make sure that you save a bunch of it, and put it in a large filter bag or pantyhose, and hang it in your tank. Your substrate cnsitutes a large portion of your biological filter. You would want to leave it hanging in there for at least 2 weeks, then slowly remove it.

I am now the proud owner of a yo-yo loach (which supposedly, rarely get larger the 4" in captivity). The food cleaning it does is unbelievable. No comparison to cories. Actually I don't consider my cories to be a very good clean-up crew at all. This thing never stops moving, buries its head in the gravel and hits almost every surface inside the tank. I can't wait to get more! Don't have experience with any other loach, but the yo-yo is a serious cleaner-upper!

OK. I'm gonna start a new yo-yo thread. My current tank can't accommodate 4 large loaches.

whats the growth rate of loaches?
i am thinking of eventually upgrading this to a 55 gallon o have stored away and turning the 46 to a figure8 or SAP tank
no time soon of course but if yoyo's thake 2+ yrs to reach 6" im not too worried
how big do chain loaches get?
i saw chain loaches at the fish store?
skunk loaches too?
there are actually two verry VERRY good fish stors across the street frome each other so thers ALOT of different fish options.

im not spending 30-50$ on new substrate when i can spend 20$ on a few fish

list of losches ive seen at fs
clown
yoyo
zipper
chain
queen
weather
kuhli
red fin
skunk
horse faced
sand

other cleanups ive seen
hoplo
cory
brochis
shrimp
bn pleco
snail
and im shure many more so what wuld work best for me?
weve already established that loaches are more active cleaners than cory cats?

Hmm, sand loaches, & horsefaces, they like sand. You know, pool sand is about $8/50 lbs, playsand is even less ~$3/50 lbs. sounds like you'd like fish to do all your maintenance to me...

theyl still turn it into poo
its just every flake that touches the floor is lost in the gravel
and these cory cats are reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy boring as i said my raphael cat is more interesting (and viewable) i havent seen my corys for atleast a week

by the way i want to know what to do because im going to the fs in about 12 hours

WHAT DO I DO WITH THESE CORY Cats
i never see them and theyr wasting space in my tank what do i replace them with
if i dont get some answers ile just buy some clown/yoyo loaches and sell them when they out grow
that or ile need to rely on the advice of the fishstore staff (wich really are bad at guiving advice)
