If you cross two adult long-fin bristlenose plecos, do you get only the long fin type for their frys or do you still get a mix between long-fin and regular?

Anyone with experiences?

Depending on the parents "long-fin" history you can get anywhere fron 20% long fin to 80% "long fin".

So this is not as simple as the long fin gene being a recessive gene? If that was the case, you would get 100% long fin if you cross both parents with long fins...

I wonder how this works....

nothing is as simple as that. i have a pair of albinos that shoot out all albinos though i had a 2nd pair from the same batch shooting out browns. there is more then just one on off gene controlling these.

I think a part of the issue is that even if you know whether the parents were albino or brown, long fin or short you may not know the rest of the breeding history. People sometimes take the albino and breed it back to the brown to stregthen the genes, let long fins breed with short fins, etc.
