Looking for a cannister filter

I just hooked up my first canister. A Penn-Plax 700. So far, it is working fine. Nice and quiet...love that aspect of it. Why did I choose this one....price. I woulda liked to get one of the more expensive ones by way of being recommended by alot of folks, but wallet says otherwise.

Maybe a good start when switching over to canisters. We'll see.

I switched from two HOBs(Wisper and an AquaTech, both rated for 60g) on my 55 to a Filstar XP3, which I think is great. Comes with everything needed, including media(last I knew, no bio media though, XP4 comes with all three types), ample media space, quiet, easy to maintain and alot of power---350gph w/o media and up to a 175g tank which in my opinion translates to up to a 75g tank(manufacturers always overrate their filters tank size ability, right?) plus the price of the XP series seems to be reasonably affordable.....alot less expensive than many others I saw while shopping for a canister.
