I am currently using a "Venture MH 175/U/5k" bulb with some T50 bulbs, I'm looking to replace it and was curious if there is a better bulb I could be using, I grow both hard and soft corals.. This is the bulb that came in the fixture that I received with the setup. I am curious is 5k is good lighting or should I be going for something higher and could somebody show me a bulb I could put in place of this one if so. Here is the bulb I currently have http://www.goodmart.com/products/243526.htm and please post a link to a bulb I could purchase at a store like big al's.. I can't order from the web.

well im no expert i doubt anybody really is and its hotly debated apparently
but
you really want 10k or higher depending on the look you want, 5k is not a very natural spectrum for coral
the higher spectrum is usually less useful to algae and will cut back on that a little bit
mogul base means that its the really big screw in socket, its also called single ended

Thank you for the reply :)

They have a bulb that is 20000k for another 4$ Perhaps that is the way to go.
