I am almost done with my tank, about ready to let the plants mature and fill in all the gaps and let the fish swim about peacefully whilst I sit back and enjoy. However, I would like to add a kuhli loach while the rest of the fish are still young. I have heard however that they are rough on a planted aquarium as they like to burrow through the substrate and disturb the plant roots. Anyone have any thought? Also, I have looked in a lot of lfs in the area and can't seem to find any for sale. Does anyone out there know of a shop in central NJ that might have some? If I don't find one I can always get one online I guess, but I will wait til spring as I don't want to come home to a giant ice cube on my front deck.

Thanks.
Will

one kuhli loach will be just miserable; they are very social litle guys and will even be found all crowded together sleeping... and you are more likely to see them when u have at least 3 or 4.
They feel safer in a group and are really great to watch.
they have never bothered with my plants...they do love playing along the side of the aquarium...scurrying in and out of driftwood and napping on the heater...
and of course..burrowing in the gravel....sand....and swimming circles around the betta

If you end up getting 'em online, can you let me know? I want to get some in the future, and no one around me carries them. I checked liveaquaria, but they only have the black ones. :(

go to www.heavenlyfish.com register as a retail customer
you can pick up kuhli loaches for aobut a dollar a piece.
they are located right near trenton nj and u can go pick them out, pick them up if u make an appointment.

they have been in business over 20 years, they are a typical fish wholesaler...which has its good points and bad points,,but they do treat the f ish well, and do not rip u off.
