After moving into my new house I finally set up my 45 gal tall tank. I decided to go with the paludarium again. I have a spot that the soil is very close to the water level, so it will be saturated for the most part. I plan on using Riccia fluitans as a "carpet" and blend that with some rocks and drftwood into the water.

I would however like to put so kind of furn or bush there too but I am not sure what would do well in wet soil or mud like conditions.

Any suggestions?

You could try something lik a Maidenhair or Lemon Button Fern.

if the water splashes a bit, or the edge of the water is always wet, try anubias nana. it grows well when only partially submerged.

I have had an anubias nana before. I'm not sure that is what I'm going for. I tried bringing that out of water and I had a major problem keeping the leaves from drying up. Unless I was doing something wrong, I'm not sure I want to go that rout. I do like the way the Maidenhair might look.

If you give me a moment I'll attach a picture of the little flat I'm talking about if that helps with the visual.

I think it's worth noting that the water level and soil level will be added to. I would guess about 1-2 inches.
