Hey! I live near greensboro, north carolina. I've been looking for some male and female bettas, but I don't want to have to pay for shipping because I can't afford it. If there are any betta breeders or people that just have bettas that want to get rid of their them and live near me I would pick them up. Please let me know! That would be great!

Petco sometimes has some really good males, like combtails and halfmoons. Also aquadbid.com is good source of bettas direct from breeders, and shipping shouldnt be too bad.

I guess I could do that, but I was going to look here first. If anybody wanted to either get rid of them or something and they lived locally, then I could get the bettas from them for free rather than paying for them at petco. That way I'd be helping them out by taking their fish, and they would be helping me out at the same time

I had been looking for 1 F Crowntail Betta at our local pet shops, we only have 2 local & no one had. For around 3 months they had been trying to order me one w/ no luck. They said they would cost $8 - $10 for her. I called Petco in Peoria & they had 2 F Crowntails left there, asked how much they were, lol, $3.99. So we drove for 1 1/2 hours each way to get them both. Got 2 for less than what they want for 1 locally here. I have since successfully bred 1 of the F's w/ my M Crowntail, Billy Bob. My avatar picture is him. The fry are 12 days old today. Have to admit, Petco does have some nice Bettas.
Good luck on getting them for free from any breeders, especially the newer tail types, Veil, Half Moon, Super Delta, Double Tail & the Crowntail which is the newest & most expensive tail type to date. The Bettas are not hard to care for but you are in for a BIG wake-up call when the time comes for breeding them. Everything has to be just so or the fry will not make it. I had tried several times in the past to breed them & it never happened, this is my first successful breeding so now I know why they do want so much for them, all the work that goes into raising the fry.
& again ... Good Luck To You!!! :)

not to link to another site, but www.ultimatebettas.com is a good site. they have betta breeders by location its a forum like AC :D

Best bet would be to have a LFS order you some, or pick some up there.
