I've raised everything from feeder goldfish to oscars, guppies, snails(yes, i raised them in mass population in a species-only tank :P), shrimp, largemouth/smallmouth bass, bluegill, carp, wild and domestic catfish, etc etc.

my dilemma is, ive always used my 75 gallon for the large/aggressive fish, and my 29 gallon as the breeder for the feeders. now i don't have enough room for the 75, and i want to set up the 29 with some smaller semi to aggressive colorful fish (i was thinking about the smaller cichlids) and perhaps some variety. i don't wanna go any larger than 3 and a half inches or so fully grown, and i dont want to get baby fish just to get rid of them when they grow too large. ive had the tank extablished for about a week, it's been sparsely planted(will be gradually planted more and more as the tank cycles), it is HEAVILY filtered(ie. Eheim 2026 w/1L Ehfisubstrat Pro and 1L Ehfimech, Whisper 30 with just floss and biosponge, and an Elite in-tank filter with no media, acts as a great low-power circulator to get rid of the dead spots) with biological media and a small amount of mechanical media, and has 10 or 15 feeder guppies in it to cycle it. i have a nice piece of driftwood curing in my basement as we speak (it still has a couple of weeks to go before it is done) and i'm going to make sure the tank is completely cycled before i stock it. i'm not rushed to stock at all, so any suggestions as to what i should get/where i should look would be appreciated. thanks!
