Looking into getting a saltwater

Can any species of coral be kept under normal aquarium lighting equiptment

Define "normal aquarium lighting"... If you mean a 40 watt regular flourescent bulb, I personally wouldn't try to keep any. If it's a little more robust than that, you might be able to keep a mushroom alive at the top of your rocks. However, you might be better off waiting until you get whatever your final lights will be before adding any corals, because you may need to majorly rearrange them when you get your final lights.

For financial reasons I'm going to have to downsize on the tank size. So maybe a 30-gal long (which I already have) or a 55-gal regualar (which might not be a possiblity now).

I've heard of small reef tanks of ten or fifteen gallons. I've also heard this are very hard, but do you think a newbie could do something like this if he tried
