Whats some nice size cichlids to put in a 90 that will do ok with live plants??
Right now I have it set up all tropical with tetras and such...
Im thinking of changing the tank to cichlids, preferably south american.

Plants do not usually work with South Americans.
In a 90 you could have a Oscar,Red Devil,Midas,Jack Dempsey,Green Terror,to name a few.

If you want to go the live plant route, look into some of the dwarf SA cichlids (rams, apistos, keyholes, checkerboards) or angelfish. Many of the larger SA's will tear up your plants. I've got nics (CA) in my tank and they've dug up and torn up some tough sword plants.

There are quite a few South Americans that work great with a planted tank.

Bolivian Rams
Blue rams
Apistos
Discus
Angels
Laetacara

To name a few . ..
