Hi and thanks for reading. I have a guppy tank, 7 gups in all. One of them is a pregnant female who appeared to have ick, although I had tried many ick treatments only to see her condition get worse. I called the fish shop where I purchased her and they told me it might be fungal. So I purchased a fungus treatment and kept her isolated in a spare breeding net for the duration of the treatment, (approximatly 1 week). The spots cleared up and she became a lot more active so I released her back into the tank with the others 2 days ago. When I awoke this morning I looked at her and the spots appear to be coming back. I find it odd that none of the other gups are affected, and none of the others are showing any similar symptoms. I am at a loss for things to do, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks again. ~Amanda~

I would treat her for a longer time period. If it is fungal, the spots are only the outward growths--there will be many more inside the flesh where you can't see them. It will take longer for these to die off. Until then, killing off the exterior ones is just a temporary fix.

Ok, so I should catch her again and place her in the spare breeding net?
and then continue the fungal treatments for a longer period,
or is it ok to leave her in the tank and treat her there? I just don't want to run the risk of it spreading to my others. One is enough for me :)

ok, I just recieved a spare 20 gal, and don't have the money to use it for tetras yet like I had intended. I would gladly put her in that and use it as a temporary hospitol tank, but the only problem there is it is a used tank, and I haven't even washed and filled it yet, plus not to mention it is uncycled.

You don't have to use a full tank. Any container the will hold water and can accomodate an airline can be used. You will need to do daily water changes of about 50% to prevent ammonia build up, but with a small container that's not a big deal. Many use a tupperware or rubbermaid container.

Confining the fish to a limited area within the same tank won't do anything to prevent a contagion from spreading.

ok great thanks, I have a spare air tube and small air stone. I know I have something I can use for her for the time. You've been a great help today, thanks a million.
