I had an ich outbreak in my tank a few weeks ago, so I went with a heat and salt treatment. I did 2 tspn per gallon and raised temp to 85F. I have a 150 gallon tank with the following fish:
1 2" Red Pacu
1 5" Clown Knife
3 1.5" Clown loaches
4 2.5" Bala Sharks
1 4" Tire Track Eel
2 Small Plecos
I saw ich on the Pacu and the loaches. The treatment seemed to be a success. After 2 weeks of treatment, i did a 40% water change and slowly started to bring the temp back down. All my water chemical conditions looked good.
A few days later in the evening I see one of my Balas in my Pacu's mouth. I really don't think the Pacu killed him, but maybe was just feasting on the dead carcass. I removed the fish from the tank. Maybe the knife had something to do with it?
I don't know what the cause was, and just today, I noticed another missing Bala. There is no trace of him anywhere.
Any ideas?
