well this sucks! i have had my first major loss since i started my tank. i woke up and my hippo tang was laying on the bottom of the tank. i had him for a little over a year. i have no idea what happened, i tested all my stuff and everything was fine. no nitrite, 10 nitrate and so on, there have been no new additions to this for about 4 weeks. the bad thing is when i took my blue tang out, the yellow tang started going crazy too. he looks kinda ruff, i havent seen him eat in a week, he usually swam around at the front of the tank with the blue all the time. now it constantly hides in the rocks. im startin to worry that maybe its gonna die too. everything else in the tank is doing great. mushrooms are making babies, percs are diggin holes that i fill in every other day, my shrimp and crabs are always out running around the tank, baby snails all over the place, the giant rose leather is looking better than it ever has, my brararium encrusting coral is spreading like wildfire. everything seems to be perfect except for the 2 tangs. i guess my question is for people who have or have had hippo tangs. how big did they get in the tank, i know how big they get in the wild but im wondering if maybe mine was just an older fish that died, how long do they live? wondering if maybe the yellow tang is kinda missing his little blue buddy? any thoughts would be welcome.
