I was just looking in my tank and noticed the black moore was missing. I though he might have been up inside this big castle/rock decoration so I shook a little but he didn't come out. I pull that deco out of the water to look up inside it, fearing he might be stuck inside but he was not there. My mom thought the cat might have got her paw in there somehow and snagged it but my cat has never shown much interest in the fish, she just likes to drink the water out of the filters.

I got to thinking maybe he could be inside the konk shell but couldn't imagine how he could squeeze his big bulbus eyes into it. I pulled the shell out and put my ear to it and could hear a clicking sound and then put it back in the water and swished it around a bit and could then see his tail down inside. So, I have spent the last 20 minute with pliers and a clamp cracking open the shell to retrieve this idiot! He appears to be unharmed. He better be glad I noticed him missing cause he would have surely drowned.

No more konk shells in my tanks!

Yeah, I wasn't asking a question. I was just sharing a new experience. I read a post on here a while back where someone had a fish get stuck while going through a hole in a decoration and it drowned because it's gills were clamped shut so I was frantically trying to find this fish and hoping he hadn't been done in in the same way. Luckily, I found him in time and he was, relativley, ok.

how come you keep gold fish with cories? they are cold water fish , the cories are warm water and the gold fish will grow too big for a 15 g - cories like their water in the upper 70's to low 80's - just curious

actually, the moors can take mid 70's which is ok for the cories.... what's not ok is the food requiremeents and the fact that when the goldfish get's large enough, it may devide the cories would make a nice snack, thus geting stuck in the goldies mouth.... killing it eventually.... 2 fish out.
