So, I bought this red lotus plant about 6 months ago at my LFS, and it didn't do much for a long time. I'm not very good at remembering to feed the plants. Anyway, now it has basically taken over my 40G tank! There's a huge bud about to open, so I've left the top off the tank. I didn't know you could trim the leaves, which I want to do, as it's so dark now that I can hardly see my fish!
What I wanted to know is do I trim the leaves down near the base of the plant, or near the surface? I don't want all that melted stalk stuff floating about.
I do like the plant, I just don't want so much of it! I will also cut off the flower as it begins to wilt, as apparently this will prevent all the seeds from dropping into the tank and starting the cycle all over again.
Thanks.
