:sad: My new xp3 is loud :sad: Is therew anything i can do that will help me? I was thinking new impeler and impeler shaft. Will that help? Any ideas? Please help me.

You did say it was new. Maybe return it for an exchange?
I just hooked up my new one yesterday. It's quieter than my pc fan.
Dont take this wrong, but it has to be asked. Did you follow the directions that came with it when priming it? I understand air inside the unit can cause undesired noise.
Also, I believe that they have a troubleshooting FAQ on their website that might be of use as well. However, I think I would try to return it if it is new.

Oh sorry. Its new because i just got it but its second hand and the guy who i bought it off had it for quite a while. Any suggestions now?

- What does it sound like? (Use your imagination.)
- Where is the sound coming from?
- Have you taken the assembly apart to see if there is a buildup around the impeller?
- Hoses are all clean? (Dirty hoses can cause extra strain on the filter.)
- Hoses all tight? (not sucking air in from a loose connection?)
- Airstone isn't too close to the intake? (Air seems to me to be the most common problem with noise)

OK here is some news. MY xp3 is the old style one. The one with the pipes packed in a bag instead of a tray and the spray bar is in sections. I redid all the pipe work just now and it didnt help so no leaking air problem. MY thoughts are that, because its old and has been running for a very long time. Im going to buy a new impeller, impeller shaft O-ring and normal O-ring. Will that help? I think they might be the prblem as the impeller is very stiff and doesnt like to turn much.

My XP3 is loud when I start it up but it is just because it has air in it and is pushing it out. other than that it is quiet. The only thing I could say is to empty it and then hook it back up and let the water siphon into it like the directions say. Sorry I am not to much help but you may just need the new impeller, impeller shaft O-ring and normal O-ring.
i would just exchange it where you bought it. its brand new so it shouldnt be faulty (although with any product a lemon can slip by). i havent had any problems with mine.
