Low Light Corals?

FWIW, I like the tank a bunch but would consider putting a shade on the window to the left of the tank. You can easily get an algae problem. Is the tank in its own room? It would make a very nice reef tank, you could put a small school of athinas and friendly fish in there. I'm not trying to say you have to buy MH lights but if you go for a reef tank of any sort just remember that your tank is 30" deep and nothing will penetrate enough light to the bottom other than 250watt plus halides. You could always keep like softies under 175 watt halides.

I hate to cut a whole in the hood--its all black plexi glass. By the way what is the difference between sunlight and super bright MH lighting and why would algae grow better or worse? Will janitors keep it under controll? Blennies, Yellow Tangs, Turbo Snails and the like?
