Low light plants

I just set up a 30 gallon and was planning on having some low light plants and had a few questions.
I thought I read somewhere (could be wrong) that to much light could make it where I would need CO2? I plan on being under 2WPG.
I read that low light plants, for the most part, do not require fert.?
even if they don't require them, would it be beneifcal? flourish, excel, leaf zone?

I have less than 2 wpg in my low light set ups. The only thing I use is Flourish and Flourish Excel a couple times a week. The plants are doing fine.

I'd say up to 2.5 watts/gal is ok without CO2 for the most part. Crypts are low light but do much better with root tabs as they are heavier root feeders. I break the tabs in half or use 1 per group of plants. Low light plants grow slow no matter what so don't expect more.

Supplementing flourish and excel every once and a while has been fine for my low light setups. I've never needed root tabs though.

I agree, you can probably get by with no ferts with low light plants but adding flourish (or in my case Kent Freshwater Plant) can help them out. My bronze crypts really take off and develop more red color when I add the Kent twice a week.

Thanks for all the info. One more question.
I have a 30 gallon tank. 52 watts 6700K.
Would this be enough light for any moss other than Java?

I think most mosses would do ok.

One last question regarding to much light and needing CO2, would that be a DIY CO2 or would that be flourish excel?

amazon swords and cacomba I have found to do well in a low tech tank.

I bought a compact sword last night and two bunches cacomba. I really like the cacomba.
