DIY CO2 on a 58 gallon tank with even 2.5 wpg is going to be a LOT of work. And fluctuating CO2 levels can cause more algae than what the CO2 prevents.

You should also look into getting some dry ferts because you are going to need them.

you did the right thing by asking the folks here in this forum, there is a lot of knowledge here. Don't worry about some ANAL know it all roasting you for asking a question. Apparently he was born with the supreme knowledge of all things. Good luck with the tank and don't get discouraged, this is a beautiful hobby.
