Low Tech or Semi-High tech?

So it's more of a trial and error process to get the dosages right. Okay.

Tomorrow (if everything goes as planned) I'll be setting up the shop light and the driftwood, but I still need to cut my polycarbonate tops before I can put the plants in. I'll look for those ferts, too.

I'm going to look around the marketplace, but does anyone know a good place to order these plants? My local Petco never has anything stocked that I need except Anubias, but I'm not even sure what its species is.

I went to a cichlid convention a few months ago that had some pretty good deals going on at their auction. That's where I got my Java fern. I don't think I'm going to wait for it to come around again though.

http://www.bobstropicalplants.com/shop/en/ also msjinkzed has a subforum where she sells some plants, along with the regular classified section here always people selling some.

Liquid Fert's I dose every 2 weeks or so, right after a waterchange. I have no particular loyalty to any one type I generally bounce between API, Seachem and Aqueon brands, As Pappy said above some fert's if you dose to high can cause certain plants to melt. Since your doing an african tank I guess you probably don't have any invert's but some fert's contain copper additives which invert's can be sensitive to if you dose to much.

Thanks guys! Bob's looks pretty good, and I'll check out misjinkzed's selection/prices too.

I'm going to look at the sticky for some more info on fertilizers, just to make sure I've got everything. Again, you've been a big help!

I liquid dose a couple of drops of micros + iron daily (Tetra Flora Pride) I know, that's old timers stuff, but I think it's an excellent product. Pappy's right about Val's and Flourish Excel, but if you start at a quarter to a half dose a few times a week you can wean them up to a full dose. Right now I do 3-5 drops of flora pride every day and a capful of flourish 2-3x week on a 20 gal
