Wabic, is the grocery store ro water labeled Reverse Osmosis? I think the stuff they sell in the grocery store might just be filtered not RO. Regardless, ro should not be anywhere near 8. Good RO shoud be exactly 7.0. I get my ro from a lfs for around .60 cents per gallon.
