hey guys, just ordered some live rock online for my new tank, its coming to me uncured. I have read various methods on how to cure it, most of them involve keeping it in a container filled with enough water to cover it and the right water quality, then letting stuff die off and spraying it to help it along. I had a couple of things i was wondering about, like if i were to use this method would the water need to be RO water as usual? And the other question is since theres nothing in my tank but water and sand, couldnt i just cure it in there?

Yes, you can just use normal saltwater for curing it in a bin with a heater and a powerhead..On curing it in the tank...If you have not cycled the tank and there is no live stock in there, then yes, get it in. You will have another cycle though which will lengthen the time before you can add any live stock..

would you reccomend cycling it in the tank? and how long would you say it will take to cycle?

Where you cycle it is really dependant on you and how long your willing to wait for the system to be good..Yes, you could cycle it in the tank, probably take about 2 - 4 weeks as an average, your water test results will tell you how this is going on..Or you could cycle it in a seperate tub if your tank is already cycled and you want to get fish in there now..

The choice is yours..If it were me, i would get it in the tank and let it cycle again..That way, its full of nice rock and your off to a good start..
