Hi all I was hoping someone could chime in and tell me if hard white spots on LR is normal. It seems to be growing in size and it looks very hard almost like a calcium deposit. Sorry I dont have pictures but any thoughts would be helpful.

I think Makaiveli is correct. I have some on my rock, some of it is white like frosting, some of it is purple, green, etc. I think it is actually a form of coralline algae.

uhm, not to argue but, you might want to keep an eye on this. Lots of times white spots on your coraline are where it's dieing from a lack of calcium in your water or where it's being over grazed. Mine also started to get little white dots on it and I had just read a post by gbolton talking about calcium. I got nervous and checked my level for the first time in about 2 or 3 weeks and it was way low. I thought that everything would be ok because it had been a couple of months since I'd added any to my tank. I was so wrong so sorry to hijack your thread but, thank you gbolton. And I hope this helps you to vegasadam

No problem at all Maxilaria. I am taking my water in to be tested as i dont have a calcium tester. I do add calcium once a week and they arent white spots as much as it is a hard shiny white area. Small but wanted to get some advice.
Thanks so much Adam
