I just received a nocturnal blue lunar link yesterday, but didn't realize when I ordered it that it was an addon for another light product. Product details can be found here: http://www.ihome.com/product/lighting/90092/current-usa-lunar-link.html

I am planning on adding it to my 10 gal tank, so I'd think just 1 unit is enough light, and thought of just picking up a powersupply for it, however it doesn't have voltage or amperage marked anywhere on the unit itself or the box. Does anyone know anything about this product, or should I track down a place that sells the lunar light base unit and use both in my tank?

I *think* I've seen those at petsmart, it might be worth it to go to one and take a look at the box.

Strange that it doesn't have a power requirement marked on it. I thought all electronics were pretty much required to have their power use marked on them. Maybe somebody has one of these and can look at their power adapter since they don't even say what the power requirements are on the .pdf User Guide from Current-USA

I thought it a little strange myself because I saw one site that said it was UL certified. Marking power requirements is part of the UL certification process for sure, but I haven't seen anything on the package claiming any certifications... No pet shops in my area with any real inventory of anything useful, other then the fish themselves, so I can't just go and check a box. Maybe tomorrow I'll have time to go into town and pick up a variable power supply, then just try out voltage settings until I get a decent light from the leds, then mount the thing, and wrap it with a good shot of electrical tape...

I have the same lights but each of mine has its own power supply. I got mine off ebay. I would look there if you need another.

Can you look at your adapter and see if it gives a V (Volts) and A (amps) (or mA (milliAmps)) value on the adapter? I've never seen a power adapter that didn't and if you can give that reading people could replace their lost, broken, etc power supply with one from RadioShack.

I tried a variable power supply from work, and at 12VAC it works great. Maybe higher would work, but 12V is the usual rating for the ultrabright leds... I found an old adaptor at home that was rated at 12VAC and the plug fit, and it works great. Very bright thogh for a small aquarium. I'm planning on installing the light tonight, to see how it looks, but I have a feeling I'll be adjusting it to dim the leds a bit... Now to get to work on building a 2way timer to automatically switch between the daytime and nighttime lights...

Are you using the lunar/moon lights on a freshwater tank? I thought they were usually for saltwater tanks, but heck I wouldnt mind sitting one up on my new FW tank and use timers to create a dusk/dawn effect.

I got mine from big al's. the base unit is just a light unit the links plug into. it looks like the link, but has a power cord attached. I have two on my 29, but unfortunatly, i ran out of room so they are between my reflectors which cuts down some of the light from them. I really need at least one more since they create pools of light leaving the center dark. I really can't say i am overly impressed, but it does make for an interestign effect.
