With more light hitting my snail only tank this time of year, it has developed some hair algae on the larger anubias leaves. I wanted to see if the snails ate it, as Lupin said they might. Here is Lily feasting on the hair algae! IMG_1529.JPG

darn that Lupin LOL
thats cool, Lily is neat, her shell looks so nice!:D

i find that to be atypical, but nice! Usually they just sort of graze on stuff bulding in the algae. Even the nerites eat the biofilm algaes first before the less palatable hair algaes. Glad Lily is cooperating for yoU!

Mine eat the hair algae too. It is interesting to watch them actually slide down the threads eating as they go :) I pull most of it out by hand, and they get what I miss.

Nice pictures!

Lily is a "msjinkzd snail". I pull the hair algae off the leaves, but left a tuft of it to see what would happen. It was getting smaller in size, and I have seen the ramshorns do a tightrope walk on it! LOL! When I saw Lily chomping away I had to get a shot. Lily is indeed a "she" since she laid her first clutch on April 15.
