macro photo of a pond snail

Hi all,

I wrote a blog last night about photographing pond snails, and thought I'd share this photo on this site too. I believe this specimen is from the family Lymnaeidae, but if anyone can identify it better I'd really appreciate it.

I did a little research on pond snails once, and this does look like a Lymnaeidae to me. Their bodies are dextral and the tentacles are triangular shaped (not thin like a Physidae). Nice photo. They are pretty snails, I think. I actually kept one as a pet and it got to be over an inch long. I think mine was a L. peregra.

The nice thing about the pond snails is that they stick their head farther out of the shell than bladder snails. Makes them more interesting to photograph.
