Well, Since the addition of a pressurized CO2 system to my tank everything has taken off (pics to follow in a few weeks) but I am now faced with a problem I was never prepared for...

How do you trim a Madagascar Lace back without causing damage to the plant, or causing it to go into shock???

My tank is 24" tall and the leaves have grown to the top, turned over and are now touching the bottom of the tank!!!!!!

Its truly amazing and neat to see, but since the plant is so healthy it's not showing any sign of stopping!!!!!!

Thanks for the help on this one...

I haven't had a Madagascar Lace, yet.

But I've been able to train my Aponogetons to not grow any higher than I want them to.

Mine have all come from the bulb packs on the shelf in stores. From what I've heard they're cross bread a little?

Here's what I do...
When a leaf gets to the top of the water and turns. I cut it off. Well actually, pull the stem at the bottom, and it pulls right off.
After doing this a few times, they stop at the surface(right where I want them to) on their own.

The first one I ever had was in a 75g, in the very back corner. It grew up, to the front, all the way across the front, turnt to the back. Before I done anything to it. The leaves were about 8' long.
There were some shorter leaves on it. So I just decided one day to remove all the long ones.
Then every time one got to the surface and turnt. I removed it. Finally it quit growing them that long, and turnt into a big bush. : )

If you don't have any short leaves, just start by removing a few. Maybe half?
Then when any new ones come up and turn. Remove them until it gets the message.

Honestly I had one madagasgar lace, It got big I trimed one of its smaller leaves and in a week it was dead...
