Mafia #20 - Pirates of the Carribean the Play

I am finding it quite interesting, the over posting G has been doing on RB today..... while I still find rb to be quite odd this game, I am finding it a bit questionable as well as to how hard G is pushing the envelope on him.

Did I edit it? Sure did...noticed I did the RB/JL mixup again...and thought I'd fix it before anyone else posted.

Ifound this interesting and worth a second look on LC for looking so deeply into the roles of the pirates. Just why are you so interested in exactly how the roles of captain/s is, LC? Is your chat room becoming confused?

Doing an ability analysis, as Clown suggested.


The pirates can all communicate, the Cooke can protect anyone but the captain, and can do so for two nights...The Captain can also promote someone else to captain, forcing us to kill two captains if we lynch the original...One question to ask is if there can be two captains at the same time, or if promoting one will demote the original. They get an execution each night, and access to investigations from the thief, and every pirate gets that knowledge. Since it's unlikely the thief has found the magistrate, false knowledge is probably not being given to the pirates yet.

I still see the pirates having the vast advantage...fully able to talk, protect themselves from lynching, and kill an innocent (one they know is an innocent) every night...if only we could find the name of blackbeard, and communicate who he is to the Guard without him promoting another Captain...except it must be done openly on the thread, and if Blackbeard suspected a hit on himself he's sure to promote another thief to keep his side alive.

What am I missing...anyone else see what Clown is alluding to?

I was willing to let that go until I saw this, below. Grins excuses this behavior because LC is a newbie for the game, but me, I am having a problem with it. Yeah, I might excuse someone who flubs all over the place during their first game, but LC has been pretty detailed in his findings/thoughts, acting as a real pro.... and when he does admit to editing, he still names the wrong players. Just what other posts have you "edited before anyone posted", LC?

Got it chief. I thought as long as an edit was done before another post it wasn't truely an edit...but live and learn. And you're right, it was JM, not JL. Or so Blue saw, I can't really remember at this point...:sigh: I thought I'd be doing better keeping people straight then this.

The only other post I've edited thus far in the game was one where I jacked up the quote tags, and went back to fix them...and it's clearly marked as edited...

As far as the Captain's role and his abilities, I thought it was a question everyone could use the answer to...and could possibly take an advantage away from the pirates I thought they've had since the beginning: What takes priority during the night...The lynch or the promotion? I'd try the sarcasm approach, but I doubt it'd work to make my point...

I'm doing my best to keep my mind and thoughts out in the open...and yes, part of those thoughts ARE thinking like a pirate. Basically I'm trying to put myself in their shoes, to figure out what they'd be doing...and what they might or might not know, and what they plan to do about it. And I've been wrong about it...so very wrong...and I feel like scum for letting myself put my blinders on like I did earlier. Unfortunately without the blinders, I'm feeling overwhelmed with possible pirate targets...and the only one I know for sure is myself.

The over posting I have done on RB TODAY?? I made one post to him asking him a question, how is that over posting???

Now, before today..yep I posted quite a bit about him, because well...I am pretty sure he is a pirate, sorry I don't make one or two post saying very little and leaving alot, to the imagination.

Can you think of a game where I didn't late night post?

Are you trying to get LC to come out as a PR, DD? That's what I get from the question you asked of him. Although I have to agree, his actions are questionable..others have had questions about our PR and how they work.

I missed putting this in the main rules but it is an accepted "normal" rule in the game that we don't edit our posts. In the future if you make a mistake please make an additional post pointing out the correction.

It is with a saddened heart that I have to post this message. We have had a voluntary UD in the game due to issues outside of the game. This individual can use all of our prayers at this time and best wishes. He will be missed by me as I think he is a great guy..

I'm not sure this would work, but a thought I had. What IF we all put out a couple players we would think are pirate, each vote until evened up. Then toward the end of the night make a call on who we would want to see lynched the most and at the very last minute vote to have that player lynched. This giving the pirates less of a chance to get their protection out on the one with the most votes??

I know it sounds off, but it was just a thought I had and thought POSSIBLY would help. **** I don't even know if it would work, but we have to come up with something since they can protect whoever looks to be lynched.

I would think-RB, Jmax, Lupin or Jpap at the moment.

I saw more of deep look at the power roles of innocents. Something I wish more people would do after Clown's hint in 714. So far I've only seen the following bring it up:

LC 722
Mad 729

Why is that? Clown left a pretty obvious hint to me when he posted:

There are players who are not grasping their roles completely and really need to do so. If they would it would balance the game out more towards the town.

Clown has put twists in here that even an experienced player might not be grasping. As innocents we should be trying to help those with innocent power roles at least understand what they might have missed. I understand why a pirate wouldn't want to help the Gov, Mag, WM, and Guard but the rest of us should be working any clue Bala gives us.
