Roadside Picnic – Read the short story here.
http://www.cca.org/cm/picnic.pdf

The aliens came in the Night. Some people saw them but became ill and quickly perished; others heard them and still bear the scars, both physical and mental. Others, the Survivors, only know what they have pieced together from the fables of the deranged and the evidence left behind in the Zones. A Zone is recognized by the United Nations as a region where an alien vessel landed. It may seem at first glance to be an old shipping yard, a barren park, or a run down neighborhood, but it hides many deadly secrets. The strange radiation of the alien spacecraft transformed the plants, insects, and animals, even people, which were in close proximity. The Zone is a deadly place of quarantine, no one but UN authorized Scientists are allowed to enter the Zone. Trespassers are shot on sight by elite Military operatives. In the new Frontier towns surrounding a Zone, a black market has formed, based on the trade of alien technology recovered from the Zone. Smugglers are called Stalkers, and they take their job seriously. The town of ACville is a Class I Zone. You find yourself stuck here, unable to afford the cost of relocating, and the town is dying in poverty and disease.

You are a Military Operative. You have orders to find and kill all Stalkers before they release unknown horrors on the world. You may communicate with your squad privately.

You are a Civilian Scientist. You are here to research the unusual properties of items recovered from the Zone. The Military requires you to assemble once a Day at Dusk and report on who you believe is a Stalker.

You are a Stalker. You embrace the new technology and the dangers associated with it that have been left behind by the alien visitors. You have access to a limited assortment of Alien Technology that will be used at random intervals. Since the Stalkers are a very closely connected group they may communicate privately. Your group may choose to kill one person per Night after Day 1.

Sign-Up will be open for at least 24 hours unless there is an overwhelming response, max. 25 players I think.

Sorry Z, sounds like a blast, but I'll be sitting on the side of the road for this one, as last game was no picnic. If you're having trouble filling spots (doubtful) I'll reconsider, but can't guarantee anything.

Since there sounds like I have a good shot at being on a team and not wavering in the wind I'll give it a shot.

Who am I kidding I just love playing different variations of the game.

I'm in.

Well, I'm in this round...sounds very fun!!! Oh, Mad...Lchap I see how you are, I sit out a couple and the game I come back to you all sit out:silly:

I am in.

Why are my potatos glowing?

Why are your potatos trying to eat you is more like it!

I highly recommend the short story I based this on, it is Russian Sci-Fi at its best. The movie Stalker that was based loosely on Roadside Picnic is decent but a little too artsy for me. And the video game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Cheyrnobyl is very good.

By the way I am working on a Mafia version of Riverworld by Phillip Jose Farmer for my next hosting round. I like playing RPGs based on books and movies, I was destroyed when they scrapped the Stargate MMORPG. :( Whhhhy?

if you need bodies to fill spaces, I will play, otherwise, i will be out.
