Mafia 42: Assassin in the Palace (The Play)

Sooooo, here we go!!!

I have to say I have no idea what to do to out the assassin at this point...this is going to be a hard one is all I know at this point. Trying to protect the king without outing them is also going to be a challenge I think.

I do know shouting "not it" and "save the king" stand out a bit, but at this point I take it more of a just starting the game kind of thing. As far as voting for and then retracting for the king...not sure how I view or think of that. First I thought yeah that may work out ok, then I though well if there are many votes/retracts for them that may in the end make them stand out more to the assassin..so at this point I'm just not sure.

The way I see it, we have the advantage here. We (the guards), all know who the king is. The fact that there is a vast majority of us means that the king is in no danger of being lynched. The only people the assassin can trick the rest of us into killing are guards. Since we all agreed to die for the king when we took the job, means that it doesn't matter if we get tricked, as long as we don't do something to give the king away: like never voting for him.

What I'm trying to say is appropriately placed votes and retractions for the king may actually be a clever way to help shield that person. I will not suspect anyone for voting for the king.

I don't have a strategy yet for figuring out who is the assassin. For now, I'm going to observe and put stuff out there when I see it.

Wrong, this goes back to what Ice said. The easiest way to pick out the assassin would be to have everyone say a person they think is the assassin. However, no one would name the King because that would make them look guilty. Also, the assassin would know this and therefore get a list of people who are not the King. See how that works, it helps us but it helps them too.

So applying that to your scenario, if I were to place a vote on the King and retract it is a fairly obvious ploy, if I vote and leave it there then everyone would think me guilty. No it will take a much more clever plan to out the fiend, one I have not thought of yet.

Also, we need to be talking more. Lurkers can not get a free ride this round, it would be too easy for the assassin to sit back and let us at each other. Even if we are talking nonsense, we still need to talk.

I will do my best to post/talk more but it is very difficult during my work day....will have more time in the evening...........

LMAO..well I'm always good for "nonsence" talk:perv:

I agree with you, but I can see someone "leaving" a vote on the king, if everyone knows who they are there is no real threat to them...and if no one EVER votes the king they are pretty obvious also, I just haven't figured out how to work it yet either. I can see the vote/retract as standing out...but then I can see the vote and sticking to it as standing out..BUT THEN I can see NEVER having any votes on the king as standing out!

GAHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Yep..I don't think we should all just jump the second someone votes the king, it they are (and I imagine they would be) the assassin they still have their shot regardless and would know right off who the king was. OMG, this is going to be soooooo very tricky. Maybe if someone votes the king we could "fade them out" so to say...yes we would end up loosing a guard or two doing it that way, but it would be the safest way I would think to save the king. IDK..just a thought right now, really not sure how to handle things yet.

I am so 180 degrees opposite of you right now. I think we are at a BIG disadvantage compared to the lone assassin. We have to figure out how to lynch him without giving away the King. The assassin has the advantage of a shot after death so theres no real trap setting available. I think I'd have a better chance at winning if I were the assassin and could trick one of you into outing the King.

I don't know how we could work voting the King in to the masquerade. If to many players vote the King its a risk that the assassin will jump on and get the kill, if not to many vote them it might out them.

I'm going to play it by ear for now. The only 1 thought I have at the moment is since there are 9 of us we need to put 2 votes on 4 players and let the last person either be a kill vote on one of them or vote a 5th player and let the coin flip decide who goes home. By voting 4 players we leave 5 possible Kings, if we decide to not vote the King, and have a good chance at hitting the assassin. If the Assassin votes the King stay quiet about it and still let them play a couple of days after a few more votes then lynch them. This will leave a lesser chance of them knowing exactly who they voted for that they're being lynched for and the shot could be off.
I'm not really sure this would work either in the long run though.

There are so many possiblities of things going wrong no matter what we do in this set up.

Ice I could see what you are saying, my main concern with it though is the votes on the king..if the king is killed, we still wouldn't know which person was the assassin. Although, in the end we would get them I spose if the king is already dead well, there is no chance of the assassin hitting them.
