Okey dokey I'm now totally at a loss...only the following makes sense :
Either :
1. Rich is in fact unbelieeeeeeeeeeevaly altuistic in making the tie - perhaps he is an ordinary villager and doesn't want to risk killing a town power role or
2. Rich is in fact a vampire. This for me makes jpappy almost certainly a vampire unless,
3. Rich is a vampire but the communication/co-ordination has collapsed on the vampire team making this an appallingly badly conducted nightfall.
Those are the only things that could make sense. Yes that means he's either innocent or guilty.
Either :
