For now (and until tonight), I'm going to assume that they aren't communicating. I have no reason for that assumption other than that's what the rules imply

HN used the same reasons you did, and didnt explain how he got them. You could be innocent, but either way just following you is stupid, and doesnt help the town. He posted that big block of notes, and earlier he voted wiz for his "slip up". He also seems to have dropped off the map...

Mollies has no posts, thats whats annoying. He never bothers to play, but joins anyway.

I have no idea where my vote is going to go, this has been a very long day one and much has been said...I have to re-read through the thread and re-gather some thoughts. Have to get kids to school, and go to their Mothers Day program, then I will be back to re-look at things. Took the day off so I can go to their program so I will be able to be on and off most of the day.

Charlie, OK. If you think he was aggro, then I'll accept that. I am too curious about the massive slowdown.

FF seems to have realized that he should slow down, but is psychologically incapable of doing so.

At this point, my top suspects are TheWizard, FF, and Hooked (in no particular order). I wouldn't mind seeing a runoff between any of these.

Even more profound...you are selecting scum based on movie preferences.

I do remember reading about the Avatar movie and peoples thoughts but since it has nothing to do with the game I didn't spend much time on it. As far as the rest of your list I see a lot of blanks, a couple more jokes and a couple probable scums. The probable scums as usual are people who question you or vote for you. More OMGUS lists from you are to be expected anyway.

I still don't have a good feel as to who I'll vote for today. A few things have stood out:

FF - Invisible then visible when questioned. Also defended himself by claiming to have been invisible for the past 3 games, which has since been shown to be not the case.

Invisibility normally isn't a big deal, but FF has been the president of the 'Ban Invisibility' fan club for awhile now, so his choice to be invisible for this game is certainly odd. The fact that he couldn't explain why, when questioned, is odd too.

His switch from invisible to visible when questioned, and his false 'Ive been invisible for 3 games now,' could be an attempt to blend, as scum doesn't like the limelight....or based on his history in the game, it could have just been Thursday.


HN - I'm not crazy about Hook's involment so far. Definitely not the HN of old. List was fluff, and as has been pointed out, really not necessary as it was vague on most everyone.

The one thing that stands out most, is the attack (albeit mild) on Z's 'HOOT' theory. IMO Z's 'HOOT' theory was meant to be a joke. Even though he was named in that theory, the fact that HN would feel the actual need to discredit the theory is strange. It was a joke.

ZSandmann- HOOT theory... I can't believe that it not only didn't get called out, but a couple seem to place enough stock into it to go with it. They look scummier than Z right now, but I have to believe that the "theory" was floated for observation. See Lab_rat.

Wiz - Lots of folks seem to be on Wiz for giving Ogre an early kick. That really doesn't seem all that scummy to me. It might seem a little aggresssive, but not really opportunistic, so I don't see any scum-driven logic behind the kick.

The thing that bothers me about Wiz, though, is that he was named in the Z's HOOT theory, and also felt the need to discredit the theory. The theory was a joke, why bother trying to discredit it?

Z's winking response is strange, as the HOOT theory was a joke. Z's wink seems to imply that he's acknowledging having been caught fishing for scum. Why didn't he just say "IT WAS A JOKE!" instead of seemingly trying to take credit for scumhunting there, when he clearly wasn't? It was a joke, not bait for a trap. For that matter, even if I wanted to edit something in this thread or the General Chit Chat forum........ I can't. I don't have those permissions in this section, I'm not even able to sticky mafia threads because they're in the GCC. Look at the forum listing then scroll down to the bottom and you'll see which mods are assigned to this section. I'm not one of them. My public areas as a mod are the freshwater forums, classifieds, and the chat room.

I guess I assumed it was JL to start it because he mentioned it several times, as often as FF had switched.

John- are you more concerned with the fact that I half a**ed a post or that I didn't list you with the same status? Why the need to point the finger towards Charlie? You could have picked others on that list that have fooled me in the past. It was "fluff & filler". I don't see much else on day 1. I'd rather try to share my thoughts in some way rather than posting a hundred one sentence (when we're lucky) posts about movies and coffee and other "fluff". First, I'm flattered that you think I'm worthy of watching - it's obviously been a while since yu've played with me, my Mommy-mode doesn't leave tons of time to ponder the intricacies of the AC mafia. I do wonder who will be the first to crucify you for this? Day one lists like this make my spidey-senses tingle. They seem to put out the "I"m-trying-to-look-helpful-don't-mind-me" vibe.

HN, your list looks impressive at first glance but really doesn't say anything at all. You may as well have said that you don't trust anyone. What does stand out is you having no feeling about Charlie, RB, or TRS. Have none of them fooled you before?

I don't. I'm sure Charlie has, probably Rb, but I've never played with TRS. My list was rushed. I named everyone and then entered my thoughts on them relative to THIS game. Those that I had nothing listed for, I included something more generic. My mistake, no doubt.

Hooked Newbie has made two posts. Here's his first.



HN tucked himself right behind Ogre to get an early and convenient vote on the board. I could understand Ogre's reaction to Wizard at the time Ogre voted him... Wizard seemed to jump all over me shortly afterward and I was tempted to vote him for it myself. I decided to hold off on that, however, because of the way he and JL got into it last game... deciding at that time it probably didn't mean either of them were evil. And they both turned out to be townies who were butting heads with each other more than anything else.

While I'm presently undecided still about Wizard's play this early, I've also seen him post aggressively (and being kind of obnoxious about it) before... I mostly attribute that now to him still being a little fired up after our last game, along with some increased confidence he's picked up as a player.

I'm still not sure about FF either, which is why I'm waiting to see more from both of them before making a call in either regard.

HN on the otherhand, jumped right in with what seems to me as an opportunistic place to drop his vote. Seems decidedly un-opportunistic actually. I got online and read at just the right time, yay. My impression of HN's play (so far) is he'd likely have voted anyone else who might have been stepping on toes at the time because that gives him a ready defense built-in to justify it later.

You're right. I probably would have voted for who ever was stepping on toes at the time. I'd be doing a lot more of that if I had the time.

Now, on to HN's second post.



HN says I'm being "helpful" while most everyone else he labels scummy. Perhaps he should try actually being helpful, himself, at some point rather than following along and blending in so much. Neither his vote nor his player run down rate very high for content or value.

I understand the vote and that's fine. Just come up with a better reason than lack of content or value. If that's your only criteria, you have a bunch of suspects.

What about HN? He totally followed Ogre and gave BS reasons.

No. If you're going to give others your play by play, at least strive for a little accuracy. I voted because he was the first to call out a "slip". That's usually done by evils that are too excited and anxious for a lynch target IME.


My vote will stay for now. I'm happy with where it is. FF... you're number two. You better ask one of your more experienced buddies to reign you in a bit.

So, I started out reading thinking I would look for those who discredited or thought it wasn't a good idea to try and figure out which game day we are in. No, it is not the most important part of the game but IMO it is pretty important, as it determines what the evil can and can not do on this day one. I figure the one with no care what so ever about it, already know. Since Pap said he would let them know each game day as to what they can or can't do I assume he would be telling them which game we were playing.

As I was reading through, one name pops up quite a bit and that is Wiz. I am not going to quote each post as it would make this an EXTEAMLY long read. I will put the post number though so you can go back and read for your self if you like.
#146- Says, to many are worried about which game we are in, and admits to skimming the rules. Now at this point not to many have really commented on it, the main focus at that time was coffee and other ungame related stuff. I think trying to figure the game out would be more important.

#151-Razzes Kash about trying to figure out the game day and not scum...he himself has done nothing to "dig for scum".

#158-Discredits Kash again about game day posts, in a post she was answering to him about skimming the rules. IMO if you have skimmed the rules how do you know what is important to this game and what isn't? For someone who is wanting to "find scum" wouldn't reading the rules and knowing what the game is about be helpful?

#159-States it's not important because Pap will let you know from day to day your abilities. Again, I think for someone skimming the rules and not really caring how to play this round....seems like a person who would already know.

#165-Again says it's not important to know which game we are playing, again admits to skimming the rules. Now at this point it has been mentioned several times about his skimming of the rules....wouldn't you think in all this time he would of taken the 2 minutes it would take to read the rules?

Sorry I know which game we are playing isn't the most important part of the day...but it is more important then most things that were being discussed at that point. Some are saying he was playing aggressive, I don't see it..I see him posting the same thing over and over, and trying to drill it in others heads.

Ogre, I find myself agreeing with Labrat here.

I've done a bit of poking and prodding, but I wouldn't say my play thus far has been particularily aggressive.

I don't really view what John has posted to date as being particularily aggressive either.

I did however, find Wiz's play to be aggressive, at least at first, but that has dropped off significantly. I don't know if this is normally how he plays, but I am always suspicious of those that are particularily aggressive on D1, with no info to go on. It makes me feel like they know something I don't.

What in Wizards posting makes him look aggressive to you Charlie? I don't feel it myself. He came out posting like crazy but from what I saw wasn't really doing any "digging". IMO he was more posting to post and "look" like he was trying not really do much of anything though.

I do however agree you and John have not posted aggressive.

Why would you assume they could NOT communicate? Most mafia games I've played, the scum team can communicate from the start. I think I've played 1 or 2 games or so when it was total team building, the rest were communication from the start. This is one instance where it would be very helpful to know what game we're playing in. I find your assumption that no one is communication to be suspicious. Odds wise, it's much more likely we're in a game where scum can communicate.

I'm really surprised you don't find Wiz's early play to be aggressive. He's since backed off big time, but came out of the gate swinging. I don't find JL's play to be particularly aggressive, he's mostly focused on harassing FF. I'm glad to see he's started to shift his focus so this isn't a day 1 FF dog and pony show. I don't find Charlie to be particularly aggressive either. Are we reading the same thread here Ogre?

Labby, it has already been pointed out repeatedly as well as stated in the rules that the teams can only communicate when allowed by the Mod. So are you confirming that the scum den has been open all along? Your questioning and pointing fingers at others as they wonder about when the den would be/is open seems a bit fishy......
