The one I bolded. The target always dies...it's just a matter of how long the gunslinger is armed.
I vote to stop Pappy from coming up with ideas like this one when he mods another game.... and for putting us through all this.

So now I'm lost...I still don't think JB would come out unless he was telling the truth but the concequenses of being wrong are much different now.
Yeah, this changes the consequences, not in a favorable way for the town.
From what I can tell, JB thought the rules were the same as the gs game, like all of us but Kash did, apparently. This makes me still want to believe him, but also makes me worry.

Pappy didn't stay true to all the rules in place for all the games we've been through, Lab Rat. But he never told he would either. All he takes from the games we've been through are the powers he assigns to the communicating innocent team and the communicating mafia... not every other rule in place for other games.
We're the ones who came up with that fish/Rat theory not Pappy.... based on other rules (code words) in the Unknown Evil game on Day 1. Not only did that turn out to be wrong, but the resulting confusion got us misdirected. Only the powers come into this.. not the whole silly game format overwriting this one.
It made sense that this game (gunslinger) would exist only until nightfall because nightfall happens after every individual shot. So nightfall comes and goes and guess what.. we're back to THIS game again and it's Day 5. At the point, the gunslinger game is finished and we'll begin with a new format for us to deal with... Exactly the same as this game had been played on Days 1, 2, and 3.
It made no sense to me that Pappy would treat one game or one of our game days different than he already has all the others.
As soon as Jb launched that attack on me, I had to figure out why he'd risk going that far with this when it's totally unnecessary if he'd been telling the truth. And that explained it. There must have been something in the mafia's PM which tipped them off to this and they knew town could be fooled long enough to shoot the wrong person. Because that point hadn't been addressed during nightfall.
Earlier I was wishing I had the gun, now I'm glad I don't.
