The town is quieter tonight, not nearly as frantic as the night before. The town is split on who should be the next to be staked. By coin flip chance, Kash has been selected for staking. Kash is brought before Bala. Bala has been sharpening a beautiful walnut implement all day, in preparation for tonight’s town staking. Seemingly unafraid, Kash watches as Bala raises the wooden stake high in the air. In one fluid motion, the stake is run though her heart. The tension in the air is palpable, will Kash bleed or will she burst into ashes?
