So about 2-3 days after starting up a Mag 3 in my new sump, it's started making a whirring sound that seems to just resound throughout the apartment! I took out the impeller, everything looked clean, put it back together, and it still makes noise! It's creating a good bit of vibration too.

Any ideas as to what's wrong or how to fix it? I'm sure my neighbors below me don't care for it too much!

Good guess, but I discovered THAT particular problem when I built it! It's been suspended since day one. It even makes the whirring sound even when I'm firmly holding it with both hands.

It is either the impeller(damaged, defective possibly, though never had any problems with Mag Drives) or the faceplate is out of round(where the impeller fits into) or damaged. Take apart again and make sure the impeller doesn't wobble(seats good in the faceplate). It has to be one of these things, the impeller assembly is the only thing that moves. Good luck, it should be pretty quiet and stay that way.

Oh, make sure there is nothing(small bit of sand or something) in the well where the magnet sits in, would cause a grinding and scratching on the magnet. You should be able to see this on the magnet if that is the problem. Good luck.
