What's the difference between the glass-only and acrylic-safe models? I have the glass-only, but find that the velcro-like design doesn't do well on soft algae. It takes a lot of passes to scrape it off. Is the acrylic version different, or just softer?

Thanks!

the acrilic version is just softer.. so it doesn't put scratches in the acrilic.

yeah, thats pretty much the only difference. Acrylic scratches easier so the mag-float isnt as strong and is lined with a different material.

oh, alright. I don't lke the velcro design for soft algae, since it just puts lines in the algae and takes a lot of passes to remove it all. I actually put a paper towel between the magnet and glass and it's MUCH more efficient (i.e. one pass). It slows the magnet down a lot, though.

thanks for the help!
