I recently purchased a Danner MAg24, to upgrade my Big RFUG with. Plumbed everything in set the pump up, and started it. It sounds like a railroad train is entering my basement. I rechecked to make sure there was no air in the pump, all things in place in the impellar cover so on and so forth. Before hooking it back up I submersed it in a tub and tried it . it is still very loud even when underwater completely.
My Question for anyone who has one of these is how much noise do they typically make? I really expected silence. I have a couple of slightly smaller mag pumps that make no noise at all when used. If the mag pump is just going to be noisy, can anyone suggest a good pump in the 1800-2400 gallon range that will not be noisy?

Have a mag in the sump of my 180g. It bounced/vibrated a little against the acrylic so I placed a piece of poly filter floss under the pump to cushion it.

This one was sitting on a rubber pad, I also Removed it from the system and submersed it in a rubbermaid trash can to see if it made a difference. still pretty loud even fully submersed in a sound deadening container.
