my wife called me freaked out saying that there were maggots in my tank. Well before i got home she flushed them but she told me they were really short and brown. Anyone have some ideas? could they have come from my live rock?

Maggots do not live in water. Were they moving?

Short and brown and small like amphipods?

or maybe flatworms? maggots don't live in water and certianly not in saltwater.... we really need a better description.

they did look like that but from their dead bodies I cant see any legs

she says they were not on the rocks, they were floating on the top of the water and sticking to the sides.

Maggots often make it into boxes of live rock while they are shipping or overseas when exposed on land. Oftentimes you can see what is left of the pupa floating around--nasty stuff.
