Do you guys think its a good Idea to put media in the sump area of my magnum canister filter since the there is a limited amout of media space for these filters.
I was thinking about using the carbon media container to hold Seachem matrix and out side of the media container I will put carbon in a media bag. You guys think ill work?

In my magnum 350 I use media balls in the container. I do not put anything out side for fear of it getting into the impellor area.

I just use the water polishing filters, put the desired media into media bags, and put the bags in the space outside of the polishing filter.

I suppose you could put a media bag into the core of the water polishing filter, but you'd have to devise some way (like a rigid screen) of keeping the bag from getting near the impeller.

Just a thought.

I use SeaChem Matrix in the media basket with the standard surrounding filter sleeve in place. It seems to work just fine, in fact, the water quality has improved since I went to that setup with the Matrix. I don't have carbon in the Magnum but do in the Emporer filter I run on the same tank.

What types of media do you put in the bags and do you only use one media bag to put in the outside space of the filter?
