Does anyone know where I can get mail order live rock shipped to the UK?
Live rock costs around £10 per lb here and I need 40lb!
Can anyone advise of somewhere in the US that will shipp it to the UK?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but on the topic of mail order are there any good online places that will ship you a small amount of rock? all the places I have checked out seem to require you to buy around 25 lbs or more, and even if they would ship you less they state a flat rate of like $30 for shipping! I'm just in the planning and consideration stage right now, but if/when i start a tank i'm just going to want a few small but good pieces to start up the cheaper base rock. most LFS either don't do saltwater or it looks (to my inexperienced eye at least) like most of their pieces are cured, soaked, rinsed, until they might as well be dead. plus you don't have as big a selection as online. anyway i was hoping someone knew of a place where i could just get them to send me like 10 lbs in smallish pieces and also not get gypped by flat rate shipping.
Stephen is correct it would be less expensive for you to make your rock. After you paid for shipping across the big pond it would cost you quite a bit more than 10 per pound. To elaborate on his idea all you'd need to do is get either some coral rock or any other calcium carbonate based rock ," including cement if you use the correct recipe try garf.org ." Just get a couple few bits of primo rock and put them in your tank . Run your tank through the normal cycle process and when you hit 0 on ammonia and nitrite readings you will be ready to start the stocking process. The made rock won't be very pretty for a while," maybe a long one," but, it will work. After a year or so you won't be able to tell your made rock from what you bought and it'll help you save some money .

Okay hurrah thanks for the help guys, but after much hunting online I have found a place in the UK selling Fiji cured rock for the fantastic price of £185 for 20Kg (about 45lb) so all I have to do is sort out a decent protein skimmer. any ideas on makes to go for that will handle my 50gal without costing a months wages?
Is this a mail order place? If so can you tell us who it is? I am also looking for a good UK mail order supplier as I intend to start setting up a marine aquarium in the next few months. I will probably use a combination of rock from my lfs, ebay and home made, but am looking for something a bit cheaper -my lfs charges about £12/kg (-think thats about $9.50 / lb).
