hi
Just wondering how i can get my majestic angelfish to eat. i have had him for 3 days and he hasnt eaten anything. The LFS had him for 4 weeks and i saw him getting feed and he eat at the store like crazy now in my tank hes not eating. any foods i can try because as soon as a put food into the water he goes and hides away.
Any advice or tips would be great thanks

what exactly are you feeding him? how big is your tank? How big is the Angel? What are your water parameters? What other fish are in the tank?

I wouldnt b too concerned... I had a clown not eat for a week and a half. and he was still fine afterwards. Now hes a fat 3 year old clown that tries to bite my finger off when I clean the tank lol.

The tank is 100 gal and the water parameters are ammonia, nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 10ppm P.H 8.3, salinty 1.024. The angel is 2.5" in size. i have tried 3 types of flake foods, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp. the LFS was feeding him a food called tv dinner and i tried that and he still isnt coming out to feed. i squirt the food where he hides so he might eat in there but i still worring that he may die of starvation. any more tips?

i would say to just ignore him for four days. Then try feeding him. If he still doesn't eat, ignore him for another 2 days. Thats what i did when i got my angels and it seemed that when i started ignoring them, they decided that they wanted what i had. sometimes you just gotta give them tough love ;) and besides, fish can live like a week or two without food, it won't kill him. I just had to make sure that i didn't pester them with food every time they ventured out of their hiding spots

Does it peck at the live rock? Sometimes fish that peck at the live rock can take a little longer to get eating because they are getting some food off the live rock and aren't inclined to eat other foods. Also for fish that peck at the rock you can smear some frozen food onto a piece of dead coral or similar and put that in for the fish to peck at.

Also the not feeding for a day or two can work too. If there is always food in the tank it just becomes the norm and doesn't stimulate a strong feeding response. If you don't feed anything, then when the food goes in there is a stronger urge for the fish to feed.

wow. boy do i feel dumb. haha. i totally thought we were talking freshwater here hahaha i was just checking in the "new posts" section and figured...well you know. haha wow.
