major deaths in tank :(

what did your friend clean the tank with?

Very good question. If your friend used any cleaning product not made for an aquarium, the tank could be full of harmful chemicals.

but, aren't RBPs just like, 20" full grown? or are they so hyperactive they need even more space than a 300g can provide?

Have you ever seen a full grow pacu? They get a lot bigger than 20" and they are also over a foot in height.

Do you think any of those will fit in a 300gal?

wow, that's an RB pacu?!?! I though only blacks got that big. sorry, I got my size info from a crappy reference volume.

unfortunately the reality is 1 in 5000 will grow to that size with the average owners care.

still better than with goldfish. I think only, like, 1 in 10,000 make it to their average adult size.

did she wash the media with aged tank water? if not she washed away all the good bacteria...and to keep a happy pacu you will need atleast 600gallons otherwise it will go crazy

If you can source it try to find some bio-spira, I added it to my tank and it cycled in about 24 hours. Just make sure where you buy it from has it refigerated otherwise the bacteria will become active and start dying off. If you are more than 10 minutes or so away I would consider bringing a cooler to put it in to make sure it remains cool as well.

did you read the posts before? we've already established that they need 1,000 gallons to a fish.
