Making a Python

Why don't you just get a freaking job and BUY a Python?????

Aww somebody got ripped off buying an over priced hose. In Canada a 50 foot python goes for about $80, I made mine from a 50 foot RV drinking hose, and the faucet hook up and the aquarium vacuun. for $18. so who is Freakin stupid one

His post didn't ask HOW to make one. He asked how the syphon and the basic mechanics of it works because he did make one. Learn to read you douche

Job aside, why should I pay $30-$80 for something I can make for less than $20.00? If you want to over-pay that is your business. Don't assume that others can freely toss money around as you can. Sometimes it is rewarding to be able to make something. I made my own "python type" system that is tailored to my specific needs and not what some manufacturer thinks I need.

I find that using a siphon drain out a window or door, I can water my bushes with the drain water rather than sending it down the drain and filling up my septic system. Refilling the tanks is then as if using the outside faucet and a garden hose.

I also use RV hose as it is drinking water safe.

yeah i was unable to find a waterbed filler/drainer, so i'm thinking of just running a siphon out the front door into the lawn and just screwing the other end of the hose onto the sink when its fill up time. only problem with this is, as it stands, my gravel vac as has the one way flapper valve for self start siphoning, and in order to use it to fill a tank, i have to defeat this valve, but if i do that without using a water bed filler, that means i'm going to have to mouth siphon it, which i really dont want to do...if i had the waterbed filler, i could just use that to get the siphon started.

where can i get the waterbed filler? walmart didn't have them, i checked.

and i'm not going to drop 89.99 at petco (only place around here that sells pythons) for a python when i can make one for 20 bucks, plus, i'm 16 and dont have any source of income.

pretty harsh post man...

You can go to any bedding store. They sell waterbed "kits" for less than $10.00. I got mine for $5.00 as was normally $7.50 It will contain all the adapters you could possibly need and some you wont. I refuse to pay the $7-$15 for each adapter that our stores here want for the "Python" branded items.

thanks. i'm going to call around because i'd really like to pick it up locally to avoid getting stuck 7 bucks for shipping on a 4 dollar item.

Most hardware stores will hook ya up with something if you tell them what your trying to make happen..i built my own too, call me cheap lol

so far on my list of places i've checked, none of these places have it:

two different true value's
lowe's
walmart
target

i'm going to call bed bath & beyond in a bit, see if they would carry it.

any other specific stores i should check?

is there another item that does the same thing as a waterbed fill/drainer, but is more commonly available?
